Satu is one of Europe’s leading experts in the application of newly-evolved techniques on mental health issues in digital society. In particular, she is driving the use of online services to be able to get professional help to many sufferers at the same time, therefore increasing the number of people helped without sacrificing quality.

She works as the Manager of Online Crises Services at the MIELI Mental Health Finland. In addition to her teams in the headquarters in Helsinki, the community can count on 900 professional consultants and trained volunteers in centres around Finland working with people with mental health issues and other life crisis online. The organisation focuses on innovating new solutions for providing online help for mental health issues, crisis situations, suicidal episodes and other life situations where help is needed. They are also using social media and gaming targeting groups who seldom use services but the help is greatly needed. On 2018 they reached huge number of people: over 1 million visits on the online crisis center Tukinet webpage, over 14 500 chat conversations with youth, over 1000 chat conversations with adults, over 8000 messages on support relationships, over 500 groupchats, over 10000 members on Discord server (largest server in Finland).

Satu has a Masters Degree in Social Services from Laurea University of Applied Sciences , is an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Master Practitioner and has studied solution-focused and schema therapy. She has worked in many NGOs in Finland on crisis help and volunteer networks & peer support. She also acts as a Global Advisor for Facebook on Mental Health and Suicide prevention.
