Marcos del Pozo Banos holds a Ph.D. on Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering. He has over 10 years of experience applying machine learning to a wide range of biometric problems in the fields of security, biology and medicine. He is a Senior Researcher at the Population Psychiatry Suicide and Informatics group within Swansea University Medical School. His research focuses on the analysis of routinely collected electronic health records for the study of suicide and self-harm prevention, applying advance machine learning techniques alongside traditional epidemiological methods. He is interested in the merging of machine learning and population psychiatry for evidence-based impact on policy and practice, and to build clinical decision support tools.
